Okay...because I am getting a little nervous about the lack of action on our poor little forum, I will start a new thread...though, who knows how many will actually be around to say anything... So, here it is: I have recently seen the 1925 silent film version of Phantom of the Opera, with Lon Chaney as Erik the Phantom. The only reason I'm bringing it up is because, even though it's silent, in terms of visuals, this version is amazingly accurate, especially compared to Leroux - we see Erik's house on the lake, which is actually a house not a cave, and there are amazingly accurate depictions of the opera house cellars. It is also one of the versions where Erik looks like he's supposed to in the book, and he's crazy and eccentric, just like in Leroux. ^_^ I'm starting this thread because, next to Leroux and ALW (Crawford), this is one of my favorite versions of Erik. So...has anyone else seen this version?

Yeah ... I'm a little nervous about the lack of activity here, too ... I admit I really haven't been checking lately due to the evils of school, but still ... I'd like to see a bit more posting! I haven't seen this film version, but I really, really want to ... mostly because I'd just love to see something really true to Leroux. And I've heard good things about it. I guess it's now getting bumped to the top of my "movies to see when I manage to grab a couple of hours free time" list
