Ohh man.
What do y'all think of the fact that Leroux!Raoul has a mustache? I personally wax it off in my imagination when I'm reading the book, because it's just so unappealing to me and does NOT suit him at all. At the time, if I could see him, perhaps I could be more understanding, but... oh hun. The mustache must go!
So, let me know what y'all think of his peachfuzz!

Heh ... I've never been a moustache fan, personally. And Raoul doesn't seem like a moustache sort of guy to me. I would have thought that Philippe was more like that, though

Agreed all the way. Mustache=Phillipe, not Raoul. Leroux should've done a little future predicting- "Will future phangirls of Stage!Raoul and Movie!Raoul like my mustached Raoul?" Answer? Most likely NOT, M. Leroux.

I actually got kind of freaked out by the whole mustache thing. It just seemed so wierd! When I read the book, I just kind of ignored the descriptions and imagined the characters the way they looked in the movie.

Yeah I've always mentaly deleted the mustache as well. Actualy Movie!Raoul was pretty close to the way I'd always immagined him, especialy the sailor's ponytail *swoon*

Ok don't kill me I was reading the book with pictures once, and they showed Raoul with a mustache, I thought it looked pretty good, because it wasn't a big bushy one, it was a slight mustache, that made me swoon at the sight of it.

Hehe ... I love it when we agree to disagree I've only ever seen one picture of Mustache!Raoul and it was a rather bushy one ... it didn't look that great, IMO. But, who knows? Did Leroux ever specify exactly what sort of mustache Raoul had? I officially declare it an officially odd obsession when people (::coughmecough: begin analysing Raoul's mustache.

Actually, Angel, on pg. 22 (in my copy of the book), it says: "He had a small, fair mustache..."
However, I still say Mustache of ANY kind= Phillipe.

Ah, small and fair? (Thanks, LittleLotte.) Well, that's definitely better than big, bushy and red, which it was in the picture I saw. Don't ask.
IMO, it's probably just a period thing. Weren't mustaches rather fashionable around Leroux's POTO time?

Hmm, someone should tell whoever took/painted that picture to read the book. Was the picture on the Internet, angel? If so, you should post it, so we can laugh at it. Or stare in silent shock and horror.

I did see it on the internet, but it was a photobucket link which has now been altered, unfortunately (fortunately?) so no can do on the posting Just imagine a red-headed Raoul with his ear pressed against Christine's dressing room door and the mustache to end all mustaches, and you'll have a pretty good idea of what it was like. In all due respect to the artist, it was very well-drawn. I just wish s/he'd re-thought the colour scheme and, erm, subject matter.

I love the mustache! You may not like it, but I, for one, think it's uber schmexy. If only Raoul weren't Christine's husband-if I had my way, I'd have my way with HIM.
