since the discussion in the "Patrick!!!" thread has gone in this direction, I decided to start a new thread about it so that topics aren't confused.
So, i know you probably do but do you think he deserved a solo in the new movie? After all, we do need more chances to hear that decadent-chocolate-mousse voice! What would the song be like? Where would it be placed? What would it be about? Etc etc etc

Good idea for a thread, Em I'll reiterate - I'm always trying to think of where he could get a decent song in, and it's proving immensely troublesome. Everything I think of sounds like a completely random 'filler' song. Irritating. Ah, well, I'll keep thinking ...

I've always thought Raoul should have a solo...the closest I can get to finding a good place for one (in the movie) is the scene where he falls in the water...instead of that, they could give him a song, but no good lyrics have come to me yet *sigh*.

Ooh! I had a thought!
Maybe Raoul could have a solo after MotN, back in Christine's dressing room (if we're going by the stage show libretto where the door mysteriously unlocks after Christine goes through the mirror). It could be about how happy he is to have found Christine again, but concerned that she might not love him anymore ... meh, I'm not sure. No lyrics yet, but I might try and write some after I get my evil homework done.

Well, seeing as i am not creative enough to come up with an idea of my own, i thought i'd show you guys this Raoul solo that someone else wrote. I thought it was pretty good. It would fit into the movie nicely without changing the plot at all or making the movie confusing, like some of the ideas i had.. www.fanfiction.net/s/2553058/1/

Aw, that one's so sweet I had a hard time imagining it to music, though.
But I decided to get creative! Here's my go at lyrics ... keep in mind I am a prose writer, not a lyricist, but hey, I think they're passable for being written at midnight on a whim This goes in where I said in my previous post -- after MotN, back in Christine's dressing room. To the tune of Learn to be Lonely.
Does She Still Love Me?
She’s all she dreamed she’d be And she remembered me! Does she still love me? With those childhood years behind us?
I know the heart may range And sometimes people change Does she still love me? All I know is I still need her …
Never thought I’d see her again But then fate brought us here An angel’s song Awoke a love still strong!
But what if she’s unaware Her childhood sweetheart cares? Does she still love me? Can I go on if she’s left me behind?
Does she still love me? Can I go on if she’s left me behind?

Aww, that's so sweet! I can totally imagine him singing that (i probably would have cried the first time i saw the movie!) . You picked a good part of the story to fit it in and the lyrics go perfectly with the music. Three cheers for angel's solo song!

That really is such a sweet song! Well done you By the way, why are you defending Sarah Brightman? I'm not attacking her, just wondering why. Slightly off topic, I know...

Yay! A new member! Wait...joined in March? Where the heck was i? Nevermind. Anyway, back on topic (ish) I think she's defending SB because so many people prefer Emmy Rossum. Read the threads on SB and ER, maybe that will explain it. I'm only replying for Angel, because I think she's in France by now...

Hi, guys Firstly ... ::glomps newbie and throws confetti:: Welcome!! And thank you! Secondly, Jaycee pretty much got it in regards to Sarah. In the general fandom, there's a lot of SB bashing, not only in favour of Emmy Rossum, but the other stage Christines, like Rebecca Caine, Sandra Joseph, etc. I happen to adore Sarah and her voice, but I get a bit of flack for it from some phans (not on this board but around the Internet and amongst my phriends), so that's the reason for my Sarah-defending. You don't have to like her, but if I see someone bashing her without a darn good reason ... ::evil grin::

I'm loving the song, Angel. Think you can get Patrick Wilson to record it and send me a signed copy of the CD? Seriously, though, that seems so Raoul-ish; just so perfect for him. Now if only we could grab a solo for Meg.

That song is awesome! I wish I were that creative. I really suck when it comes to that kind of stuff...like songs and poetry. I can write essays and f(ph)anfiction, but I can't write a poem to save my life. -_-

That poem/song is *very* well written, I absolutely adore it. I was so-so at first thought of the general concept of a solo song, but with something more or less like that poem, things would work out divinely.
Actually, once I stumbled across a lyrics site that featured all the lyrics to phantom, and there was this song- not from the original Sydmonton version or anything, that was R/C. The lyrics were beautiful, but I had no idea where on Earth it came from. The main thought is that it would have been wonderful for the movie or even musical perhaps.

Thanks, Lotte, Hi-chan and Black Domino And that site sounds really interesting, Black Domino ... I would have liked to check it out. No link floating around in your Internet history? ::is hopeful:: Anyway, does anyone else have other ideas for solo song opportunities? I don't want to be the only one!

And that site sounds really interesting, Black Domino ... I would have liked to check it out. No link floating around in your Internet history? ::is hopeful:: Unfortunately, nay. I once bookmarked the link but the little thing mysteriously disappeared, and now I cannot find *which* lyrics I was looking for when those appeared, so cannot repeat the search. However I recall it saying something like “life is one sweet beautiful song” and Raoul singing about being with his “Little Christine”. Aw, it was such of a cute song.

aww, that sounds so good! Maybe one of us will stumble across it eventually. Most likely it will be me, since I have no life and spend what little spare time I have on here or on other PotO sites. Unfortuately, I'm not much of a song writer, so I'm not even going to make a pathetic attempt. Especially after what you wrote Angel. Mine would look so stupid next to yours!
