The Little Things You Liked

One of the things I love most about movies in general is finding the tiny, insignificant, quirky little things the actors do that have no effect on the plot, but are absolutley hilarious or heart-wrenchingly sad in their own right. So, what are your favourite 'little things' from POTO?

Some of mine:

1. Christine mouthing 'I love you' to Raoul in Final Lair.
2. Madame Giry and her eye-rollage as the managers say, "Signora, no!"
3. Reyer's "You're fired." That absolutely cracks me up every time.
4. ... Can I be extremely immature and disgusting? I admit that I can't help snickering at Gerry's snot bubble in the AIAOY reprise. And the fact that there is a string of saliva between him and Emmy after The Kiss. It catches the light for a moment and shines. That just makes me go, "Okay. Ew."

I'm going to get killed for saying this, but I was absolutely appalled by that little 'I love you'.

Why? It was completely and utterly out of place. It broke the tension and ruined the moment. I hear that Emmy ad-libbed it, which makes me completely and utterly loathe her. She did not understand the character. At all. The focus is on the Phantom and Christine. And she breaks it. And screws (I want to use a much stronger word that starts with 'f' but I don't know if saying that is allowed on this site) up the entire emotional tension.

I'm all for Raoul and Christine love but God, it was just so out of charater.

And you know why it ticks me off even more? She goes in and delves her tounge into the Phantom's throat, completely forgetting about Raoul. She's not thinking of Raoul, she's thinking of herself. She used the situation as an excuse to satiate her sexual desire for the Phantom, which obviously didn't happen. And two seconds earlier she told Raoul that she loved him.

Emmy is so fake in her acting. My God, it disgusts me. And that 'I love you' would have been lovely at any other moment. But she ruined it.

Which is why I love the stage show. So. Much. More. It isn't pathetic.

You know, creampuff, I've heard so many people say that. Nothing will make me believe it, even if there is eidence to support it. But that's just me, I'm stubborn. I'm with Angel on this one. Now the things that I like

1. After Buquet is hanged, Firmin is trying to calm everyone down and Andre is standing there, looking like he's going to puke.
2. Carlotta getting mooned.
3. Well, I'd hav to say, the echo of Raoul and Christine in AIAY reprise, but that's because my sister once asked me "Why is it taking them so long to get down the stairs?". Gotta love clueless people.

I've got conflicting emotions about Gerry's snot bubble. Sometimes I find it hilarious, but at other times I can't get over how dstracting it is!

Ahh, what I adore (and I'll probably think of more later), and I mean, I rewound the DVD so many times just to watch this one tiny little thing..

During All I Ask of You, when Raoul is holding Christine from behind and brings his hand up to her shoulder... and then his thumb does this little stroke thing on her shoulder... it's the smallest thing but it's absolutely adorable. It gives me butterflies. Same with when Emmy grasps his lapel during the kiss.

On a lighter, more perverted note, you have to admit it's rather amusing when Emmy slips her tongue into Patrick's mouth...

Oh, I thought of another one. During AIAOY, when Raoul whispers "Christine". I don't know why I love it so much. I just do

I'm another one who adores Christine's "I love you" to Raoul. Also included are:

1. Carlotta getting mooned. She deserved it!
2. The maids putting in earplugs when Carlotta sings. *snicker*
3. The "You're fired." Who doesn't love that?
4. When Raoul strokes Christine's shoulder in AIAOY. It's so adorable! I just want to hug him...wait. I always want to hug him.

I have to admit, when I first saw the movie, I never noticed the "I love you" to Raoul, but when I did notice it, I thought "Then, why the devil's she kissing the Phantom???"

Anyway, here are my little favorites:

1) Firmin's line: "Andre, this is doing nothing for my nerves..." I LOVE this so much!!
2) Carlotta: "You made my dress too long!" then later "You step on my dress!!" ;D Gotta love that Carlotta. She's so hilarious.
3) Reyer's "You're fired!" I straight out cracked up when I heard this. ^_^
4) Andre's little puke face after Buquet is hung is just classic. You can just hear him thinking 'Oh, man...I think I'm gonna blow chunks...!'
5) Almost every one of Raoul's lines in AIAoY, most especially "Let me be your light" and "Let daylight dry your tears" ::sigh:: He is so sweet.
6) Also in AIAoY, the phrase "One love, one lifetime" always stands out for me. I always think, that's just so awesome. ^_^ Aw, heck! That entire song is awesome!
7) The Phantom in AIAoY Reprise never ceases to amuse me. He is so incredibly pathetic in that scene that it makes me laugh. He's trying to be all mopey and serious, and I'm sitting there busting up. ;D;; It never fails to register with me everytime I watch the movie how full of crap he really is! (Just my opinion, feel free to shoot me down if you wish...)
8) Christine: "Raoul...don't make me do this. It scares me!" For some odd reason, I find the way she says this line totally hilarious...it completely cracks me up every time. ;D

Just another thing, fairly obvious, but still ...

I love the black-and-white flash-forwards! Really awesome addition; I loved seeing how Raoul always thought about Christine throughout their lives and all that romantic jazz. So sweet ... (even if the ending did spark off all those ridiculous 'hidden plot' theories ... grrr.)
